Dreadlocks remind her of trees..they start out fragile and flexible, and then grow to be solid and dense. Just as almost every other aspect of our human lives does. When we are babies and young children, we tend to be dependent and weak..easily persuaded. Then, as we mature, we become less flexible to others' opinions. We begin to become our own stability and we steady ourselves when the seas get choppy. As our mindsets develop, we begin to take care of ourselves as we should, rather than listening to what the ones closest to us tell us to do. Over time, these organized mats of hair do the same, they become more stable and take care of themselves. Why does she choose to have dreadlocks? Because they remind her of the entirety of life. They are not a simple hairstyle...to wear dreadlocks is a lifestyle. A mindset. A love for all entities.
